In the Rotunda of the Bourse de Commerce, Celeste Boursier-Mougenot sets an 18-meter pool filled with water that reflects the sky.
The name of the exhibition "Clinamen" refers to the spontaneous deviation of the atoms that allows them to meet and collide.
On the water surface, white porcelain bowls set in motion by a light current generate melodious sounds.
These acoustic vibrations, created without external intervention are the heart of this creation, a true symphony of the instant, evolving with each invisible wave.
The appearent simplicity of the installation is inversely proportional to the fascination it exerts on the visitor.
The bowls that collide in the circular basin under the effect of a light current produce a melody similar to the one generated by tibetan bowls
The artwork invites the onlooker to abstract themselves from their environment in order to focus exclusively on the bowls and their melodies.
Almost nothing is left to chance in the process of very elaborated composition of this artwork, as it's as a composer (Céleste Boursier-Mougenot is originally a composer) that he configurated all the elements and parameters that allows the transformation of these objects into a sophisticated instrument capable of generating its own melodies without any intervetion from an interpret.
The exhibition takes place from June 5th to September 21st of 2025 at Bourse de Commerce.
