Light and Shadow: An Exhibition Between Light and Shadow at the Bourse de Commerce

For its new exhibition, the Bourse de Commerce de Paris aims to immerse visitors in a reflection on the relationship between the visible and the invisible. “Clair-obscur” thus transforms this magnificent Parisian monument, turning it into a landscape that is both luminous and twilight-like. 

 

For this occasion, works by some twenty modern and contemporary artists from the Pinault Collection are on display. Each artist presents works that draw on the legacy of the famous chiaroscuro, a technique so characteristic of painting since the 16th century. While contemporary artists observe their era to perceive its darkness, the exhibition “Clair-obscur” explores this theme through a selection of about a hundred works that unfold in a play of light and shadow.
